Internet Down

Hello. I know one of the worst things you can do in the blog world is miss a few days of posting. Unfortunately, this was beyond my control. Well, kind of…

The main priest here that I have known since 2010 is named Fr. Leszek (that is his first name–last name is Czelusniak). If you haven’t guessed, he is Polish. Anyway, one of the things he often says is “It’s Africa. Of COURSE it’s not working.” It is certainly much better than it was in 2010, but while there are some more modern conveniences available, they don’t always work!

For the last two days the network at the Cana Center says “connected–no internet.” When I mentioned it to the priests at breakfast this morning, they chuckled and said there must be some problem in the area. I assume by their response that they don’t have internet at the rectory either, though now I am starting to wonder.

This afternoon I had to quick come down to the Academy and thought I would just quick check…sure enough! The Academy has internet. And it is right across the street! I have wanted all day to ask someone to let me into the network closet and reboot the router. I feel pretty certain that would do the trick. Unfortunately, my French teacher didn’t teach me the word for “router” (in fairness, the internet didn’t exist when I was in high school), and anyway there weren’t very many people around today.

It is 5:45 pm now and that means I have only a little more than an hour before dinner. I have a few things I want to share, but it’s kind of a process to get pictures off my phone to my computer and sized properly and all that. So, this is all that I am going to post tonight. You can look forward to hearing about Mass in the Apparition Chapel and my first attempt at laundry. How will you sleep in the meantime?

God bless us all.

I read all of your entries and I have so many questions. I’m very proud of you and will pray for you and the foundation and the children your teaching.
